One example that i found from this learning 2.0 is in thing 5, the website for Wikipedia.
There are many ways that this can be used in the classroom. First off students need to learn at an early age that copying works off the internet and putting their name on it, is wrong. Students use the internet for all most everything these days and they should know how to give credit to people, for the work they found. Many lessons can be made for every grade to explain Creative commons. I would use the short lesson that i made for younger students, it can be modified to meet a few different grade levels.

Thing 15
I thought this was a neat activity. i found the whole thing interesting and a great tool to use in the classroom. for younger students the class and the teacher could work together daily to add to their post about a certain topic and when they find something new they can go edit it and use it in their classroom. For older students, this would be good to use in the classroom to allow students to work together on research projects ans allow them to compile all their information together. Also, if students are working independently, they could share information with one another on their new findings. The wiki can be interesting to watch daily just to see what changes have been made and by whom.
one last thing
The things that i liked the most about this was finding so many great websites. I really liked the organizing websites and the websites that you could do effects with pictures. this will help my learning goals, because now i am able to make fun and interesting lessons and activities and i want to be an effective teacher. most of this whole experience surprised my. i did not have any idea that most of these great websites were out there. Also, i thought i would not really enjoy blogging, but i have realized that it is not that bad. the only thing that i would have done differently for this process, would be to give a little more directions when it comes to posting pictures, videos and other things into a post or around the blog. However, this has been a very useful experience and i know i will use lots of it in my future classroom to get the students involved in fun lessons and activities, and the use of technology.
Thing 22 Livebinders
The binders that i created were titled educational games, helpful teacher links, and reading. These binders can be used in the classroom in many ways. First off, it is a great place for teachers to save websites that they love. also, they can be saved any way you like. so if a teacher was having a reading lesson and wanted the students to play educational games for one of their activities, the teacher can just make a binder and all the websites they want to use will be there. and the teacher can use this for many years and up date it throughout the years. a few other lessons that students could have from this cite include making their own binders for a research project or finding educational games that they like to play.
This is my educational games binder

Thing 21 Animoto
I thought this was a really nice cite. it would be great to have the pro version but it is a little pricey. I thought this process was really easy and simple. It would be very easy for students to use. It would be neat for students to be able to use this in the classroom to make presentations over school work or just for fun. While making mine i wish i could of had more allowed time and more backgrounds to choose from... but for the free version it was good.
Create your own video slideshow at animoto.com.
Thing 20 youtube
I think youtube is a great site. Many videos are available for people and students. Many informational videos are out there and can be very useful in the classroom. students can watch a video from youtube on just about anything, ranging from how to videos, relating information, and for entertainment. Also, youtube can be useful for students staying at home. if they need to give a presentation they can video type their self and post in to youtube and then their teacher can watch it and give them a grade.
What i like about youtube, besides all the videos that are available, is the search method. It is very easy and student friendly. Also, accounts can be made and students can only view certain videos and not see inappropriate videos. I like that comments can be left and others can read them as well. one thing that i do not like about is.... well that's a hard one, that nothing that really bothers about the site.
While i was playing around on youtube at work, i found my self listening and watching a lot of new music videos. so i figured i would share one.

Thing 16 getting organized
the start page that i picked was iGoogle, because i could change it around and put the topics that interested me on the homepage. i can change the background of the page, which i really like because i can make the page personal and cute ;). more than likely i will make this my home page. it will show me the weather and any interesting topics that have happen recently.
I really like online calendars, i write every thing down ( or try to ), it helps me remember things. This will save paper and i can access it through my iPhone, which is great because i always have it with me. i am on it all the time, and checking my calendar will be easy and simple... and easy to add on to. I also like to so list. i usually make one every week, for school assignments and other things i have to do that week. they help me manage my time and help me make sure i have completed everything. i think they are just as simple to use as writing them down on paper. i use remember the milk, it is on my phone as well and it has been very useful. i would recommend the app remember the milk to anyone that can get it and likes to make lists, this can be used for school, work, and your personal life.

thing 17 Tagging
Tagging will be very useful for teachers. There are so many great websites that can be used in the classroom, and sometimes they can get forgotten. with tagging teachers can easily find the websites that they love to use it their classroom. This tool could easily be used in the classroom by teachers and students. Teachers could save websites with lessons and activities, while students could save educational game websites and research for project. since this can accessed from anywhere, teachers can use the websites at home ( or wherever) to finish and work on lessons. Students can find educational games at home to play or finish up on some research they where doing at school. There are many great advantages from this site, some are listed above, others include no hassles of searching for something for hours, easy access, and great organization.
Thing 19
I think Teacherpop is a great website for teachers of every age. Many teachers can communicate with one another about lesson, activities, and experiences. The other social network that i explored was bake space, i love food and i am in the process of (really) learning how to cook. I thought it was great for beginning cooks, it gave many recipes that were easy and simple... i will be trying a few of them out here in the near future. I have the Flixster app on my phone and i really love it. i love to go see movies, in any genre. I also looked through the network, whats on my bookshelf. this site allowed members to trade books.
Really the only online communities that i am apart of is Facebook, and since i have been in this class i am now a member of Twitter, and Teacherpop, and i will probably make a page on bake space and whats on my bookshelf. i know i will use some of the recipes i found on bake space in the future and since i love to read, whats on my bookshelf will give me a new list of great books to read in the future.

Thing 18 Twitter & Facebook
I have had a Facebook page for a few years now, I just recently got a Twitter account for this class. I have to say I am not a big fan of Twitter just yet. Maybe it is because i am so used to Facebook. I thought setting up a Twitter account was easy and simple enough to do, and it could have potential benefits. some of the things i did not like about twitter is that most people do not go by their real name, they make one up and it is harder to find and follower them. i like Facebook better and think it is more useful, you can do more with it and communicate more ways with other people.
Teachers need to be aware of social networking for many reasons. They can set up an account and a class page/group to send messages or tweets to the class about up coming events and grades that are due in the class. classmates could communicate about projects that are due in the class as well. I think this will only work for older students, but for the younger students the pages could be set up for the parents of the students to communicate with one another about the up coming events and projects that may be due in the class.
some schools now already have a Facebook page and a Twitter account, they post whats been going on at school and important dates, i believe in the future these sites will be used a lot more in class and in the classroom.

Thing 13 Applications
I thought that Zoho was a good site. It is a lot like Microsoft word, but free, and that is a great feature for students and teachers. There were a few things that I did not see on Zoho that I did on Microsoft word ( I had Microsoft word pulled up and i was comparing the two). I noticed that in order to get spell check, you would have to go up in the review tab and click on spelling, it does not check it automatically. since i am a trouble speller, i was a little disappointed with that. Also, i noticed there were not as many fonts to choose from. However, i did like that there was a tab to upload your document right to a website or blog. I thought that Google docs was similar to Zoho, documents, presentations, drawings, and spread sheets can be made in Google Docs. Students could use this for free, instead of the Microsoft works that cost lots of money. I think i would use the Google Docs in my classroom because I believe that more could be used by the students than in Zoho.
Thing 14 Going with the flow
I thought these were very great sites to know about. There have been many times when I have tried to create something similar to these charts and they always ended in a mess. These are so easy to use and friendly to young students. I chose Gliffy as my Flow chart and Bubbl.us as my mind map. I picked Gliffy because i have used it for another class and i really liked using it. I picked bubbl.us because it looked simple and easy to use ( which it was). These charts and mindmaps can be used at any age and in any grade. They can go from simple to very detailed. These would make great study guides for students that are well put together and organized. Also, teachers could make worksheets and quizzes out of these and let students fill in certain blank places or even the whole chart.

Thing 4 commenting
Commenting on blogs helps create a sense of community and interaction by letting one another talk (or write) about what the other has blogged about. People blog because they want others to hear their thoughts and see what is on their mind. Many people can talk (or write) to one another and make a community of friends betwwen bloggers. Many great conversations can be held over a bloggers post. However, it takes interaction between bloggers in order for this process to work. In order for that to happen, blogs need to be interesting and address interesting topics and questions. Also, the blogger needs to be active and respond to the comments that other people or bloggers has left them, this way a conversation can be held about a certain post. These two things are very important points when it comes to having comments and interaction on ones blog.
The two blogs that I picked to post on from the blogosphere was:
Addicted @ Decorating
http://blog.addicted2decorating.com/
I selected this blog to post on because I love decorating. This blog had a lot of great before and after pictures on projects that were worked on. This blogger and I have the same taste of decorating in common. The post that I commented on was a sitting area with a T.V., the room had a calm relaxing feel to it and I loved it. I had to tell the blogger that a wonderful job had been done.
Bookroom Reviews
http://www.bookroomreviews.com/
I selected this blog to post on because I love to read and this blog gives many reviews of books. I have already found two new books that i want to read this summer. The post that I commented on was on a book that I have already read. I thought it was not getting the comments that it should have from other commenter. The book was titled "The Host". The book was by the same person that wrote the twilight series. I loved this book, It was totally different from the twilight books. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Twilight fan, but now I am a big fan of this book as well, and I thought people should know the truth about the book :).

Thing 12 Google
Oh the many things Google has to offer!!! I enjoyed playing around with Google today, I spent a lot of time doing this. I set up a weekly calendar, that mostly only contains school and work.... I wonder whats wrong with that on summer break. Also, i set up a few simple alerts, covering Apple, and a few news sites. I set them up as a weekly alert, I did not want my email covered up with alerts, however I did see where i could set it up with RSS... maybe I should do that. I also set up an iGoogle page. That took some time, mainly looking through backgrounds and then all the headlines that were offered throughout the page.
These sites could be useful in the classroom for many things. There could be a class calendar set up to show and remind students of assignments and important events that may be coming up. Alerts could be created to spend out emails to students to remind them of things and to keep up with news. The same concepts could go for every teacher as well... it never hurts to be well organized, planned out, and reminded.

Thing 11 news feeds
People could spend hours looking through all the blogs and news feeds that are out there. I tried to stick to the educational blogs for the time being. The method that I thought was really easy to find good blogs was edublogs' award winners. This site had many blogs related to the educational setting. I thought that Syndic8.com search was a little confusing, I think because there was so much to pick from when you first open the site. Some useful things that I found included a writing blog and ways to use technology in the classroom. Some of the unusual ones I found was mainly on Topix. Mostly because I think of it more as a gossip site than anything else.... maybe I just had a hard time getting that concept out of my head. Some other ways I tries to find blogs and news feeds was by going to Google. All I did was type in some key words and it pulled up plenty of interesting sites.
Thing 10 RSS
What do I like about RSS?? Well for starters, I like that i can subscribe to to sites and they will always be there. Some times i will forget a site or forget the site name and have trouble finding it again. This will allow me to stay connected with many sites. Now, i have only added a few, but I see many more sites being added in the future.... as I remember them. Also, l really liked that when you searched for a site, many similar sites came up as well. This will allow people to find other sites that they might like better and get for information from.
This site could be used in the classroom for teachers and students. Every body knows teachers do not have a lot of time to be searching all over the internet for school related sites or personal sites. this would allow teachers to save lots of time with their favorite sites, work related and personal related. It would all be saved to one place and they can browse through it all at once, it could be a new history lesson or what they will be cooking for supper that night. The same idea could be applies for students as well. Many educational sites are available, this would allow students to look through many of them and not miss any. Also, students have personal interests as well. They could use the site to keep up with new trends and people that inspire them.
Teachers could take advantage of RSS by letting students set up accounts for projects in different subject areas that require some research. This would probably be for older students, but it never hurts to get students involved with useful websites at an early age. For younger grades the teacher could make a class list, if need be. This site would let students keep track of events and new findings.

Thing 7 Dreams captured in a picture
Flickr was a very interesting site. I enjoy looking at many different types of pictures, and looking at events and places all over the world... so this site was perfect for that. I liked that i did not have to create an account to just look at the pictures, there were plenty of pictures to browse through, i found myself looking through pictures for almost an hour. The tagging method was a great invention, being able to type in a few key words to find a great picture will come in handy for searching for wonderful pictures.
By the end of experience with flickr, i found myself looking at pictures that had one thing in common... The beach. Since i have been on summer break the only thing that i have wanted to do was go to a wonderful, peaceful, relaxing beach. I do not think this dream is going to happen this summer. This will be the first summer in a while i have not been... and i am bummed out about it. The pictures i was looking through where not of the usual beaches i have been to, they were very tropical and places i have not been.... and REALLY want to visit... or love :). So i guess all i have to say to that is, a girl can only dream..... for now.

Thing 8
Mashups can be used for many things in the classroom setting or in personal life. In the classroom, fun and interesting lessons and activities could be developed for hooking students in a the beginning of the day, spelling, decoding, art, and many fun projects. When students really get involved and enjoy an activity, they learn a lot more from it. I believe many students would like doing projects using some of these techniques.
In life outside of school, these could be used for making family photos more fun and interesting. Also, a great way to store photos for other people to see.

Thing 6 - Productivity
The Site that i picked from the Web 2.0 awards is, remember the milk. This site is wonderful!!! I love it, I even got the app for it on my iphone. This site allows people to manage many things. There is a task box for every day and every week. For some people simply writing something down helps them remember what they have/need to do. This site sends people notifications through phone and email to remind them. The site allows people to plan out the whole day if they wanted to. People could be reminded about a certain event that is coming up or a big test they have to take one day. the site also allows people to make lists, from a shopping list to a workout list. there is a page for work, stud, and personal tasks.
The only thing that I do not like about this site was that you have to sign up and make an account. The account is free, which is great. Everything else from this site i like. I think this site will benefit many people, especially people that like to make lists of things they have to do. Also, the site could benefit people that need help remembering certain events and assignments that need to be completed. This site would be VERY useful for students and teachers with all the daily activities and deadlines that need to be meet.

Thing 5
I think that the web is very interesting for most people. For others i think it can be frustrating because they do not know how to work their way around the web. Teachers should be on top of understanding the web. kids start out at a very early are on computers now, they think that computers have been around forever.
School 2.0 means that many methods of teaching are coming. Many of the new concepts are better for students and can allow flexible timing and ways of demonstrating knowledge and development. Content can be taught a lot of different ways and the web interaction that is going on in the classrooms is just the beginning of it. Teachers need to be prepared to reach every child the best way possible. And the web may, and probably will be a great way to reach most students... of every age. Children start out using the web for games and social interaction, teachers should be able to arrange for learning activities to be held on the web as well. I believe that the best way of teaching, is getting the students involved in learning by using objects and techniques that they like and enjoy using... and in this day and time computers and the web are at the top of that list. In the future most classrooms will be held from the web. Most writing is accomplished using the computer now, books are on the web and soon classroom textbooks will be. Students will not use anything but the web for learning.... eventually. Teachers need to be prepared and start getting ready to make the great move!! For their self and their students.

Thing #3 Why am I, a future teacher, Blogging???
Since I have been reading around, I have found out that blogging can be very useful. Blogging can be used in the classroom many ways.
For the teacher...
*She or he can give notes about a certain lesson and share ideas and experiences with other teachers and parents.
*The teacher can give detailed instructions for an activity in a lesson or unit. That way others can look and see what materials are needed if the handout was lost ( if one was even given out).
*The teacher could give pointers on what worked and what did not work in the classroom. Also, give alternatives to what did not work and what they did to fix the problem.
*The teacher could post daily activities for parents and students. for instance, what happened during the day, if there was any homework given, if there are any test coming up, or any important events coming up for the students.
For the students...
* They could ask the teacher questions that they may have.
* They could give alternatives to activities that did not work or give their opinion about it.
*Lessons could be completed using the blog, individually or in small groups. This would allow students (and parents) to see other work samples from other students in the class.
* The teacher could keep track of the students blogging and give the students helpful tips and ideas for whatever they are working on while completing the blogs.

Thing #2 This is my BLOG and my AVATAR!! :)
The name I gave for this blog and my posting name is basically my name - Kristin Leigh Edwards. It's just posted a little different for both of them. I like my name...
I think the blog was easy enough to make, on the other hand the avatar was a little more difficult for me to make. What I mean by that is really deciding how I wanted show my avatar and what it looked like. I am a true girl, I like clothes and it takes me a while to pick out the clothes that I like. So, it was just the same aspect for my avatar. I believe that this avatar does look like me, or as much as it can. I wanted the avatar to look like myself as much as it could because this is who I am and I am comfortable with that.

Thing #1 Life Long Learning
About life long learning....
I have always been a planer. So, for myself, habit number 1 will be easy for me. I make many goals for myself in school and in life. Most of the time I start out with a goal in mind and then develop some type of plan around it. The plan usually involves when I want to accomplish the goal, the resources and materials I will need, and how I will work through the plan to reach goal I had in mind.
The habit that I believe is the hardest for me is habit number 4, having continence in yourself. I always second guess myself and worry if other people understand what i am trying to do. Most of the time, I am concerned with the work or activities that i have completed, and if i had completed them correctly. I would call myself worrisome. I tend to worry over everything, big and small.
I had an easy time setting up this blog, i did not find it difficult at all. I really do not express many personal feelings, and I will admit, I was not looking forward to creating a blog.... but hopefully i will enjoy this experience. Many of my close friends blog and they seem to enjoy, so maybe i will learn to enjoy it ;).
